Eternal Life Here And Now

1 John 5:12: He that hath the Son hath life; (present tense) and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

John 15:5: I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

This life is a part of eternity. If someone injected a transfusion of living blood into a dead body, would that body come to life? No. If someone inserted nourishing food into the stomach of a dead body, would that give life to that body? No. If someone forced oxygen into the lungs of a dead body, would that body come to life? No. Those things would be too late. They can only sustain a life that already exists.

Hebrews 9:27: And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

Proverbs 29:1: He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.

If we are to live forever in Heaven, we must have eternal life in us before we die physically. Eternal life can only be sustained in us if we have it before our bodies die.

Romans 6:23: For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

In a sense, the gift is two things. It is eternal life and it is a person, Jesus Christ our Lord. Eternal life is in Him and when we receive Him it is in us. If we have received Jesus (and eternal life) before we die, our bodies can be resurrected unto eternal life. If we have not received Him, our bodies can and will only be resurrected unto eternal condemnation.

John 3:18: He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

Matthew 22:32: I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

Mark 12:27: He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living: ye therefore do greatly err.

Luke 20:38: For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him.

Hebrews 11:35: Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:

John 5:29: And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

John 11:25: Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

There is no half-way house between death and Heaven. There is no purgatory. We are not saved by giving money to a church and we are not saved by our relatives giving money to a church after our death.

John 1:10: He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. 11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

No one can receive Jesus on our behalf. Each of us must receive Him ourselves.
